About Me

Let me introduce myself…

Hello there, my name is Bree! Born and raised in the western suburbs of Melbourne I made the move to Ballarat in 2006 to study a Bachelor of Education at the Australian Catholic University. Meeting my husband Rob in 2010, making a home for ourselves in the leafy suburb of Mount Clear in 2012 and completing our family of  five in 2016 has been an amazing adventure and my biggest accomplishment.

I began my journey within the education sector as a primary school teacher but after working as both a classroom teacher and art teacher for a number of years I discovered my interests in education were evolving and made the decision to study early childhood education in 2017 and open my Family Day Care service at the beginning of 2018.

I chose to start my own family day care service after watching my own children blossom with their family day care educator for a number of years. Leaving primary teaching was a big step but Family Day Care enables me to focus on the two things that matter the most to me – my family and educating children!

Now in my third year of running my own family day care business and with my Diploma of Early Childhood and Care neatly tucked under my arm, I find myself becoming interested in the ways I can help to promote childhood well-being as well as how we as educators, teachers and parents can take care of ourselves… because educating and caring for little people can certainly take it out of us! I hope to share my own stories, ideas and resources to help others take care of the children they educate as well as themselves!

I enjoy being creative, reading, writing, drawing, cooking, gardening and working on up-cycling projects. Sustainability and engaging within the community are incredibly important to me and are a big part of who I am as an educator. I also enjoy blogging, reading articles and engaging in professional development to strengthen my practice, networking with like minded educators that encourage and support me in all that I do and quite possibly scouring the op shops for all sorts of treasures that will brighten our Family Day Care environment and ignite the imaginations of the children I educate and care for.
